BBC reported that Liverpool is negotiating with Crystal Palace on a potential transfer of Guy.

It is reported that Liverpool is stepping up its efforts to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Guy, who has one year left on the current contract. Crystal Palace president Parrish said earlier this week that the club may sell it this summer to avoid Guy leaving the team in a free transfer after 12 months. Sources revealed to BBC Sports that Liverpool has conducted preliminary negotiations and hopes to sign the 25-year-old before the summer transfer window is closed. Liverpool is also trying to sign Parma's central defender Leoni. The 18-year-old Italian player is not regarded as a potential competitor of Guy, but is more regarded as the team's future reserve candidate.

Last summer, Newcastle offered a offer of up to £65 million for Guy, but failed. Crystal Palace currently has a price tag of £40 million for Guy, while Liverpool hopes to pay a lower price.
