Guardiola revealed that Bernardo Silva's reliability and dedication to the club led him to make the decision to appoint him as Manchester City's new captain this summer. After Kyle Walker left the team in January, the captain's armband was handed over to De Bruyne, but the latter also confirmed his departure this summer. In the past, Guardiola usually asked players to vote for the captain, but this time he decided to appoint a B seat in person, while Ruben Dias, Rodri and Haaland also joined the leadership team.

Guardiola said: "I chose the B seat for only one reason. When we were in a huge dilemma last season, he always stood up."

"He always insisted on training every day, even if he was exhausted. We had only 13 or 14 players and youth training players, and lost a game every three days, and he was always there. He was the player with the most games during my coaching period, always on call. Even if he didn't play, he had no complaints, always with a smile, and tried his best to help the team."

"He played left-back, right-back, winger, defensive midfielder. No matter where he was, he always considered what would be the best for the team. Given these qualities, I think he would be a good captain. Now he has become a very, very excellent captain."
