In the fourth round of the League Cup against Brighton, Max Dauman was selected into the starting lineup, breaking Arsenal's record and becoming the youngest starting player in the club's history.

When he made his professional debut against Leeds United last month, Dowman became the second youngest player to appear in the Premier League and in our club's 138-year history. His inclusion in the starting lineup against the Seagulls further makes him the youngest starter in the history of our men's first team.

Marquez, who is only 15 years and 302 days old, broke the record held by Jack Porter last season - the latter started in goal against Bolton Wanderers in the same event. Jack was 16 years and 72 days old that night, which meant that his England U19 teammate Max improved the record by 135 days and became the first player in the club's history to start at the age of 16 and under.

The record for the youngest player in our club is still held by Eson Nwaneri. He became the first 15-year-old player to debut in the Premier League at the age of 15 years and 181 days in the 2022 game against Brentford. He is also the youngest player in the history of England's top flight, breaking the record held by Sunderland player Derek Foster in August 1964.

If Daoman continues to get first-team opportunities in the 2025/26 season, he will be expected to hit another dusty club record. Back in December 2003 - six years before Max was born - a young-looking Cesc Fabregas scored against Wolves in the Carabao Cup, becoming the youngest goalscorer in our history at the age of 16 years and 212 days.

In view of this, as long as Max scores his first goal for the Gunners at any time this season, he will surpass the Spanish star on this list and may be recorded in the club's history. Unless another player from the academy achieves this feat first.
