According to British media givemesport, Postkoglu has no intention of returning to the Celtics to replace Rodgers.

According to sources, although Postkoglu is currently in free agency, he is unlikely to return to the Celtics as head coach.

Previously, Rogers announced his resignation as Celtic coach on Monday due to the defeat against Scottish Premiership leader Hearts last weekend, which caused the team to fall 8 points behind the top of the league standings. Currently, the Celtics senior management is looking for Rodgers' successor.

Postkoglu was fired after a short period of coaching at Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. Although Postkoglu was once the ideal candidate for Nottingham Forest boss Marinakis, his tenure at the City Stadium lasted only 39 days and he was sacked after losing to Chelsea without any wins.

Despite his deep connection with Celtics fans and supporters, sources say Postkoglu will not immediately return to the Celtics to take over as coach. This means the Celtics brass needs to turn their attention to other candidates.

Postkoglu achieved brilliant results during his first coaching career at Celtic, leading the team to win two Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish League Cups and one Scottish FA Cup.

However, Postkoglu chose to accept the challenge of Tottenham in 2023 and led the North London team to win the Europa League last season. However, despite the glory he brought to Tottenham, Postkoglu was sacked by Tottenham as the team performed poorly in the Premier League and ended up only one place above the relegation zone.

Desmond, the majority owner of Celtic, severely criticized Rogers in the club statement issued after his resignation. Although O'Neal agreed to return to the Celtics as interim head coach, Desmond is still looking for a new permanent head coach.
