New options beyond x86? AMD is rumored to launch Arm architecture APU next year, but shipment list is suspected to be missing

AMD and Intel announced on Monday (13th) that their cooperation in the "x86 Ecosystem Advisory Group" (x86 Ecosystem Advisory Group) has reached a number of technical milestones. However, according to foreign media WCCFtech, there are rumors that AMD is preparing to launch an Arm architecture APU (accelerated processor), and it is suspected that it has already appeared on the shipment list.
In order to resist the Arm architecture offensive, AMD cooperated with Intel and established the "x86 Ecological Advisory Group". They have been cooperating for a year to ensure the competitiveness of the x86 architecture. However, market news has spread that AMD’s Soundwave APU will debut next year to capture the emerging Windows on Arm market.
According to reports, AMD has dominated the APU market in the past few generations and is favored by system integrators. It is also widely used in devices such as mini computers and handheld consoles. The company plans to launch an Arm-based mobile SoC series, code-named Soundwave.
According to the shipping information shared by @Olrak29_, SWV is the Soundwave being developed by AMD, and uses the BGA 1074 packaging format with a package size of 32mm × 27mm. It belongs to the mobile SoC level and is designed to meet the integration needs of OEM manufacturers.

According to reports, the product uses a 0.8mm pitch and a new FF5 socket, which replaces the current FF3 socket common in Valve’s Steam Deck, meaning it is a new product line.
AMD currently has a mature x86 architecture APU series on the mobile side, such as Strix Halo. As the Windows on Arm (WoA) platform and OEM ecosystem mature, and with the launch of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite chip, AMD’s timing to enter this field is no surprise.
In addition, this is not AMD’s first attempt at the Arm architecture. As early as 2014, AMD launched a project called Project Skybridge with the goal of creating a common platform that could support both x86 and Arm, but it was ultimately canceled due to economic and market adoption issues. Although there is no official release date for the Soundwave platform, there are rumors that it may debut next year.
