Prevent the sale in China! Malaysia requires the application for export of US-Group AI chips

Malaysia will implement a permit system for the export and transfer of high-efficiency American artificial intelligence (AI) chips, indicating that the government intends to prevent blockage and sensitive chips to be transferred to China and other regions.
According to Bloomberg, the Malaysian Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry issued a statement on Monday (14th) stating that if an individual/enterprise is informed or has reasonable reasons to suspect that the relevant goods may be used or will be used for restricted activities, the competent authority shall be notified at least 30 days before export, transfer or transit, and apply for permission. The policy will take effect from now on.
The department said that this is to add loopholes in the existing laws, and at the same time, the Malaysian government is also examining whether to include high-efficiency AI chips originally from the United States in the list of strategic items under the Strategic Trade Act.
According to previous reports, the US government is preparing to formulate a new set of export control rules to strengthen restrictions on the export of NVIDIA advanced AI GPUs to Malaysia and Thailand, and prevent these chips from being transferred to China under the current ban. In the preliminary draft, the U.S. Department of Commerce plans to require companies to obtain export permission from the U.S. government before exporting AI GPUs to Malaysia and Thailand.
At the same time, Trump also recently announced tax restrictions for many countries, including 25% tax restrictions in Malaysia, which is more than 24% of "Liberation Day".
