Rapidus, a crystal foundry manufacturer established by Japanese officials and civilians, aims to produce 2 nanometers (nm) chips in 2027, and Rapidus is consuming measures to produce funds. Japanese semiconductor material factory Fujifilm said it will definitely evaluate whether to make purchases for Rapidus.

According to news and Asahi News on the 2nd, Fuji Software Film President Hiroichi Goto was asked about the possibility of raising Rapidus at a financial report meeting held on the 6th, and responded that "it will be highly evaluated." Regarding the specific amount of investment, Goto Hiroichi avoided the discussion and said only "no decision has been made yet."

Hiroichi Goto said, "I attended the opening ceremony of Rapidus (July 18) and had a very positive impression of its smooth progress. Japan has the most advanced semiconductor factory, which will allow our material manufacturers to try out errors nearby."

Rapidus first released a 2-nanometer chip trial product (prototype, prototype) to the media on July 18. Rapidus will provide the latest version of the PDK (Process Design Kit) necessary for chip design this year (before the end of March 2026), which will be able to evaluate Rapidus' technical capabilities based on the PDK.

Rapidus was established in August 2022 and was jointly invested by eight Japanese companies including Hongta Motor, Sony, NTT, NEC, Silver, Denso, Kindergarten, Mitsubishi UFJ and other 8 Japanese companies.
